Project Title: K-NET - Services for Context Sensitive Enhancing of Knowledge in Networked Enterprise

Description: K-NET is exploring a fundamental problem: how different services to manage social interactions in a networked enterprise can be used to enhance knowledge and knowledge management (KM) services.
Objectives:
  • Methodology on how to combine services supporting work and management of social interaction in virtual worlds and KM technology in order to enhance knowledge, addressing both technological and organisational aspects related to knowledge sharing within networked enterprises.
  • Set of new services for:
    • management of social interactions allowing to effectively monitor the (collaboration) knowledge generation/usage processes;
    • automatic extraction of context from such processes and enrichment of the knowledge (specifically addressing knowledge provided by/contained in smart devices);
    • KM applying extracted context to support usage of the enriched knowledge in the network, with special emphasis on knowledge representation services (taking into account intellectual property rights and privacy issues).
  • Ontology to support context extraction.
  • Socio-economic study of applicability/usefulness of the approach proposed and services to be developed in the project.
