Project Title: ATHENA - Advanced technologies for interoperability of heterogeneous enterprise networks and their applications

Description: ATHENA was a systematic European research initiative in IT to remove barriers to interoperability, to transfer and apply the research results in industrial sectors, and to foster a new networked business culture. The overall objective of ATHENA was to move from technical capabilities – architectures and tools – to sustainable infrastructures.
Objectives: ATHENA aims to enable interoperability by providing a comprehensive Interoperability Framework. Research and Development will be executed in synergy and collaboration with Community Building ATHENA will be a source of technical inventions for interoperability. It will also lead to prototypes, technical specifications, guidelines and best practices that form a common European repository of knowledge.
