ENSEMBLE will evolve from the conceptual phase into a fully operative Support and Coordination Action through four different implementation axes, interlinked and responsible for the activities that will be carried out during the ENSEMBLE lifecycle.
I. EISB Development containing all the required activities towards the establishment of the Scientific Base of Enterprise Interoperability. Those activities will be constructed on top of the analysis outcomes for the EI landscape. An action plan will define the various logical steps and ingredients that are required for transforming a lively but fragmented domain to a concrete “science”. Following those activities, three separate “waves” for developing the different elements of the EISB will be released and supported, during which, in close collaboration with the expert committee and the relevant stakeholders, the fundamental ingredients of the EISB will be developed.
II. Roadmapping providing a solid and continuous support towards present and future research directions of the FInES cluster. The roadmapping activities aim at providing recommendations for scientific alignment and collaboration, and at incorporating the major outcomes and visions of ENSEMBLE into the research roadmap for the FInES. In this direction, ENSEMBLE will define a methodology for updating the roadmap, based on the partners’ prior experience on major similar activities and on the knowledge they have gained as principal participants and contributors to the implementation of the cluster’s projects and activities.
III. Communication, Collaboration and Engagement including the activities dealing with the mobilisation of the Community and knowledge dissemination. In this context, ENSEMBLE will aim at motivating the existent FInES cluster community to participate in its activities and will work towards enlarging the cluster by bringing together experts from similar, but also “external” domains that can contribute towards the creation of the EISB. ENSEMBLE will define a methodology for both collaborating with ICT Pervasive and Trustworthy Network and Service Infrastructures Projects. Workshops organisation for constructive positioning/argumentation on the current issues and for validating ENSEMBLE’s results are foreseen, together with a large conference aiming at promoting the idea of EI as a science, through the participation of high calibre recognised scientists and stakeholders in the domain.
IV. Collaboration Portal and Knowledge Base Development/Maintenance with the implementation of collaborative systems supporting the process of outlining and establishing the EISB and the roadmapping activities. The systems to be developed will be open to the public and will contain all the knowledge deriving from the project.
